O robô controla uma faca, e esta "ataca" os espaços entre os dedos da mão do espectador, num ritmo cada vez mais rápido. Usando sensores, o robô sabe onde estão os dedos do espectador, e onde ele pode colocar a faca. Entretanto, o processamento dos sensores é perturbado pelo suor da mão. Quanto mais nervoso, maior a chance de erro.

Neste jogo, a tarefa do jogador é monitorar as imagens de diversas câmeras de vigilância espalhadas por algumas quadras de uma cidade, e detectar os crimes e infrações que ocorrem no espaço monitorado. O papel que o jogador assume não deixa de ser inusitado, sem contar que erros nas "denúncias" são considerados casos de "difamação" e fazem com que o jogador perca pontos.

All our work is done in the open. Our matter is accurate. Amazon Noir was scripted as an auto-generated internet-movie. The whole digital action (media hack) was carried out in the global massmedia, within the art world and on a highly sophisticated technical level in the clandestine matrix of our global networks.

Amazon USA, Amazon U.K., Amazon Germany and Amazon France were
vulnerable targets. During the attack they transformed part of the
„Search Inside the Book“ technology to defend the rights of the copyright holders - without actually solving the problem. Over 3000 Books were downloaded and distributed through p2p (Peer-to-peer networks: Gnutella/G2, BitTorrent, FastTrack, ed2k) between April - October 2006.

In July 2006 Amazon France and Amazon USA threatend to litigate.
The matter was resolved out of court October 30th, 2006. Amazon (USA/
France bought the Amazon Noir software for an undisclosed sum - both
parties signed a non-disclosure agreement.

I think I understand the theoretical "ideas" behind the Amazon Noir project as well as anyone (questioning the validity of copyright, etc.) and I even sympathize with these ideas in many ways (for example, I defend the rights of artists to "remix" or "mashup" published material to create new art).

However, the Amazon Noir project, which consisted of subverting Amazon's "Search Inside the Book" feature to reassemble and redistribute entire books, then extorting money out of Amazon in exchange for not publicizing the technique's details. This seems to me like a criminal act more that conceptual art, but what bothers me most is that it is the kind of behavior that destroys what is good about the Internet, namely the easy availability of information for free.
